MOUND VALLEY CELEBRATES 25 YEARS IN KOFP&S

1982 - 2007

In March 1982 the Mound Valley Chapter was formed.

The original officers were:

Mike Blackburn, Chairman
Raymond Kline, Vice Chairman
Jack Gartner and Jan Shields, Secretary / Treasurer
Arvis Kline, State Representative
Bill Allen, Alternate Representative
Lois Kline, Historian
Maxine Lumm, Public Relations
C.E. & Maxine Lewis served refreshments & meals

Henry and Alice Beck, Mike Blackburn, Arvis Kline, C.E. and Maxine Lewis were the original organizers of this new chapter.

Vernon and Bessie Beu and the Redbud Chapter (Sedan) were very supportive in getting the Mound Valley Chapter up and going.

The program was on Sunday afternoon in the old Community Center for several years and every chair was filled. After awhile it was decided to have a Saturday night dance as well as the program on Sunday because of the crowd. Eventually the program was changed to the 2nd Saturday and the dance followed the program.

Our membership is way less than half of what it was in the early years and most of our members are gone now. Many of our members have complications with age and health now but the music and fellowship continues on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

We want to say ‘thank you’ for all your support and encouragement over these past 25 years and we will forever miss those faithful members who have passed away. We could not have done it without you!

The Members of Mound Valley Chapter wish to thank everyone for keeping the oldtime music alive!
