October 2008 State Board Meeting - October 12th

At the Western Plains Chapter in Lakin, Kansas

Hello everyone,

Motels for State Board Meeting in Lakin, Ks Oct 12,2008

I have checked several motels here in Garden City and this is what I found out.

Wheatlands Best Western is probably the cheapest 62.00 per nite, but they don't have a very good place to jam.  It was a real small area to jam. I could block off the rooms without a guarantee and everyone would have to make own reservations with cut-off date 2 weeks before we need them.

Red Baron Best Western was 66.99 per nite.  They didn't have anyplace for a jam.

These two places are going to be noisy and a  not so good place to stay.

AmericInn would be my choice.  They were real nice to talk to and have to most to offer.  Room for KOFP&S would be 78.94 per nite.  They have a continental breakfast sausage, gravy, biscuit, waffles, cereal or pastry.  You get a 10% discount at Applebees restaurant and Lone Star.  If 10 rooms are rented could use the meeting room free or could use the lobby free.  She sometimes has someone playing there when they is something going on in town so she was real open to the  idea and thought the lobby would work.  They will block off the rooms with no guarantee and cut off date to make reservations would be 2 weeks before.

Comfort Inn  was 80.00 per nite.  They really didn't have anyplace to jam in. They didn't need a guarantee but just wasn't as friendly.

Holiday Inn Express was 73.00 per nite.  They didn't require a credit card for blocking  off rooms.  They wanted to charge 50.00 to use the meeting room to jam.

Clairon Inn This was the most expensive of 94.95.  They weren't very friendly either and  had a meeting room they would rent for 80.00.

All of the rooms would be on ground floor or they have elevators.  I need to know as soon as possible so I can have the rooms blocked off for us.  Also will you just be staying Oct.11-Sat. nite or will some of you want the second nite.  I will just block them for Oct 11 unless you let me know different.

We will be having homemade cinnamon roll and donuts, coffee, juice and ice tea Sunday morning at the Memorial Building.

My choice would the AmericInn.  If everyone could let me know by the middle of August I can get them to block off however many rooms we need. The sooner they know how many room we will need the better. I personally went to see the rooms and accommodations instead of calling them. Please pass this on to the other members in your chapter so everyone gets the information.  Thank-you

The date for the cut off to make your reservations would be Sept.27,2008.

If you have any questions you can call or e-mail me.
